Last August 24, 2011 was a great day for me because it was my birthday. LOL. :D Ever-since I was in college, I usually celebrate my birthday with my family, my bestfriend (if she's available) and my boyfriend. Other than them, I don't really invite people to come over my house. I don't invite friends in short. :) I'm happy to celebrate it with them.
I always ask my mom to cook carbonara and chicken curry for me every time it's my birthday. Those are the foods that I really wanna eat in my special day. It's been a tradition. LOL. But last year was a little different from what I'm used to. Because I asked my Korean boss to cook ojing-eo-muchim and jumeogbab for me. Fortunately, my request was been granted! Tadaaaa!!!
My two favorite Korean food. |
I first tasted ojing-eo when my Korean students together with my boss and I went to a trip in Tabacco. I've eaten lots of Korean food that time but those were the two food that marked in my tongue a lot. And so I grabbed the chance of asking my boss to cook that for me on my birthday. A lot of thanks to her and my friend who joined us to eat that special treat. Here are some pictures that I took last August 2011.

Well. What is Ojing-Eo Muchim? As far as I know, it is a squid, seasoned dried shredded squid to be exact. It has a sweet, salty and spicy taste that blends well in your mouth. It's also chewy so you can pair this with a great drink. You can eat this one with or without a rice, it can also be a side dish or a main course depends upon how you want to eat it. But I assure you everyone will love this food. For the recipe, click here. Here is another photo of Ojing-Eo.

What is Jumeogbab? Is it a rice ball as what you've seen from the previous picture. Actually, you can eat it even without a main course. The rice ball itself is tasty already. But it might not suit other people's taste. But I encourage each one of you to try it so you can judge it by your own. Another good thing about this is it's just an easy made food. It will not take you an hour to mix the ingredients and finish the balls. Please click here for the recipe.
